Paytm has launched its Pocket Soundbox in July 2023 and since then I was trying to get hold of one for the detailed review.
I have already done teardown of Paytm Sound Box and Paytm Soundbox 2nd Gen but this one is special. It is little compact version of Paytm Soundbox which now shop owner or it’s staff can carry easily.
Paytm Pocket Soundbox is Made in India. It is completely designed and manufactured by Oakter in their Noida Manufacturing Plant. If you are building a world-class consumer or industrial device and need a matured manufacturing partner, you can contact them.

So, let us how the device looks like and what are it’s features.
It comes a in a small box packing box with Lanyard, User Manual and Battery Charger with USB-C Connector.
You can see below, the device is really small and I can tell you it’s very light weight.
In the front side below the QR Code you can see, left side 3x LEDs are there to show battery charge status, at the middle there is a White Torch light and right hand side LED indicates various connectivity status or Error.
In order to open, we need to remove the Paytm QR Code sticker and below that you will find 4 screws, once you open that, enclosure can be open easily.
Once you open, you will see a PCB with a large module.
At the top you can see rectangular Antenna, that is Cellular Chip Antenna.
it uses a Quectel 4G Modem EC600G-CN, this is the main controller and connectivity module for the device, there no other microcontroller on the device, everything is done using this module.
SPI NOR Flash is used for saving some settings data and may be audio files.
For Sound output, HT8513 Boosted Audio Amplifier is used.
HT8513, integrated with adaptive sync boost converter, is a mono Class D audio amplifier that drives up to continuous 3W (<1% THD+N, 20-20kHz full band) into 4ohm speaker and 6.5W (10% THD+N, 1kHz) into 2ohm speaker from a Li-battery voltage. It also integrates Class AB amplifier
4 ohm, 1.5W single speaker is used.
on the back side of the PCB, you will find a Lithium Battery 3.7V 1000mAH connected via 3 Pin connector.
USB- C Connector is provided for Battery charging and SIM Card Holder is there.
For Battery charging, popular and low cost TP4056 Linear Battery Charger IC is used.
Side press buttons are provided. On the left side, you have button to listen to the last transaction and another button for Power ON/OFF (long press) or torch ON/OFF(short press)
On the right side you have volume up and down buttons.
You can see OAKPKT Oakter V1.13 PCB version (www.oaktner.com) so this is not the 1st version of PCB which came out for production.
The whole design is done using a 2 layer PCB.

The overall construction of the device is not very complex so I was able to assemble it back and it was still working, proof is below image and the video 🙂
5V 1A Battery Charger from BlueSmart is included in the box. It has USB-C Connector which connect to the device to charge. This charger is also Made in India and BIS approved.
