Why did I change?
During October 2019 time frame, I decided that I should start working as an independent Embedded Systems Design Consultant and help companies build reliable and successful products which is my strength.
Embedded system design have been my strength and my passion since last 20 years and I wanted to build next 20 year on top of that strong foundation.
Help Companies build Embedded Products
In India and other parts of the world, many companies, specially hardware startups lack good & experienced resources to take their ideas or prototypes to a world class product level. So, I wanted to come in and help.
One of the main reason for not picking up another job was I wanted more flexibility in what all I want to do in next 15-20 years.
Help Embedded Community
Other than helping companies build embedded products , I want to contribute to the embedded community significantly with articles on practical embedded system design and also develop some Open Source Projects to solve some pain areas.
I also want to write for various embedded/Electronics publications/magazine. These articles will help young engineers learn how to build world class products and how to think deeply enough for building a successful product.
While you are in a job with a company, you don’t get time for these activities and there are lot of restrictions. So, that’s the reason I have started working independently.
What do I do now?
Help convert Idea to feasible technical specification.
Review customers product specification and help them improve
Technical Specifications
Help in hardware and firmware development (MCU/MPU based designs)
Also, quite regularly I help in design reviews(SCH/PCB), and optimization for power consumption, cost, size, performance, etc.
Design & Development
Many companies struggle with creating design validation and product test plans and implementing automatic or semi-automatic test jigs. I also consult companies on certifications like EMI/EMC/ Environmental Tests, Shock, etc.
Testing & Certification
My clientele includes companies in:
India, Canada, Africa, Saudi Arabia
Companies are involved in Industrial Automation, IoT Gateways and Saas Platforms, Consumer Electronics, LED Lighting, Energy Meter and monitoring platforms, etc. I am also working with on projects from BEL, DRDO, ISRO in partnership with another company.
