Power consumption of Displays

Working on low-power embedded products could be very challenging. They need special attention at all stages to keep power consumption the lowest possible because every uA matters.

One of the most power-hungry components in your embedded product could be the display if your product has it. So, it is important to understand the power consumption of various displays before you select one.

I have created a detailed article on how to reduce the power consumption of your embedded product, do give it a read.

Below is a list of videos (not created by me, I found on Youtube) that will give you a good idea about the power consumption of various displays, so that it becomes easy for you to make a decision while selecting the type of display for your embedded product considering your power budget.

So, the conclusion is if you need the lowest power consumption, e-paper and glass LCDs are the best. I hope you have enjoyed the videos. On top of that, you must have a power gating mechanism to reduce further power when the display is not in use.

I hope you found this information useful.
